The London art gallery Chelsea Space held a Frank Sidebottom exhibition July 4th – August 4th 2007. A 20 page programme was designed by Chris.
Artwork was also available for purchase. I would love to see a copy of a sales list if there is one.
The magazine Artforum voted the Frank Sidebottom exhibition the 3rd best of the year
"Frank Sidebottom (Chelsea Space, London) Under the direction of Donald Smith, Chelsea Space has evolved into a truly unique concern, presenting shows that focus on, say, Samuel Beckett’s approach to rehearsing or on Jeremy Glogan’s unheralded late-1990s South London gallery The Top Room. But Smith’s curatorial pièce de résistance was this recent overview of the world of Frank Sidebottom, papier-mâché-headed alter ego of artist and musician Chris Sievey. So complex is Sidebottom’s modus operandi—he is a television entertainer, cartoon character, stand-up comedian, cult hero, and more besides—that I will not attempt to explicate it but will simply say that the exhibition, which combined props, films, animations, and drawings, reveled in Sidebottom’s absurdist sensibility and that Beckett surely would have approved."
I am sure Chris would have smiled at this review.
For the gallery's 5th Anniversary There was no Frank exhibition but he did contribute by designing a poster. The poster was a reworking of The Oh Blimey (an homage to edvard munch 'the scream')from the 1999 stockport art gallery exhibition and printed in an edition of 50.
